Ashiya Omunden, after she finished study on graphic design and photography at the Queensland Collage of Art; she decide to jump into fashion world to implement her creative design skills. She started to do clothing design and sewing since she was about 11 or 12, because there are clothes she like but can’t afford or can’t find things that she like in store; that’s the beginning of her clothing design journey. In order to fulfill her dream as a fashion designer, she found the label – House of Cards in 2011.
On her AW13 collection – Lagoon Lovers was inspire by 70s suburban life; she like to use past time as main inspiration, which gives a sense of nostalgic feeling. Using the pastels colour palette like sky blue, mustard or burgundy and mix with exaggerated collars shirt, high-waist short, playsuit and one piece dress. The one I love the most is wavy flamingo skirt, is super cute~!!! She said: “ I love creating pieces that are fun to wear. Fashion to me, is a tool to express yourself on the outside. It’s about taking your self a little less seriously, not overthinking it and have fun. “ (from Alechemag)
Recently, they had a collaboration with KIDS creating a selection of cap and cluth, it sew with sequins of pineapple and flamingo. Bringing one of them to the party, you gonna be the spot light among all the people.
