這幾天連結到Vita Yang的粉絲頁面,被她的插畫所吸引. 並馬上購入她的< 第一本書 > 圖文插畫書,現在正逢梅雨季節,窗外正瘋狂下著暴雨,搭配著昨天看的電影<曾經.愛是唯一>的主題曲Falling slowly.看著Vita Yang的書特別療癒.
I discovered Vita Yang illustration fan page when I was randomly browsing through Facebook. I was attracted by her work and I bought her illustration book at once. It is raining season, it is raining heavily outside and I am listening to the movie theme song – Falling slowly. It is the perfect mood for reading Vita Yang book.
插畫家Vita Yang(楊瑾瑜),從小時候媽媽念繪圖本到高中美術班, 大學念台灣藝術大學的視覺傳達系. 畫畫和藝術已成為他成長的一部份. 在大學畢業後, 因對於未來的想從事的方向的不確定感. 在媽媽的建議之下申請了公費留學前往英國De Monfort University念鞋類設計. 在英國這段期間, 放慢腳步在課後之餘,在生活之中汲取靈感,並訓練自己的觀察能力.這也奠定她未來在繪畫靈感的題材中心.
Illustrator, Vita Yang, from her childhood memory of mother reading illustration book to study in high school art class and visual communication design at National Taiwan University of Arts. Painting and art play an important role while she is growing up. She was uncertain about her future after she graduated from University. And her mother encouraged her to study abroad, she successfully obtained government scholarship and studied shoes design at De Monfort University. Study in UK has given her rich inspiration, this is a great opportunity for her to slow down her pace and sharpen her observation on details.
Vita Yang的插畫以水彩,鉛筆,蠟筆等繪製於便條紙或甚至咖啡濾紙上,隨手的創作充滿手感的溫度.在畢業於英國碩士後,返回台灣在鞋類公司待了兩年,但在2010年參加了GEISAI TAIWAN 2,參加比賽的作品 ”This is why I miss London so much”.因當時剛從英國回來,對於在那裡的所有回憶與想念透過他的作品傳遞. 此作品獲得了日本知名潮牌設計師NIGO評審特別獎. 這個作品不僅確立了Vita Yang的插畫風格也成為她開始從事專職插畫藝術家的一大轉機. 在得獎之後受到NIGO品牌Human Made的邀請,設計品牌的產品目錄.對她來說是個契機也是挑戰, 因在Vita在人物繪製上初期都是以女生為多,所以對於男生的神韻一剛開始無法確切的描繪. 不過在搜集資料與研究後,漸漸的抓出感覺. 也成為Vita畫男生的開端,後期與Agnes b. cafe合作的展覽- You are my sunshine和禮拜文房具聯名的< 7 days 7 boys>系列商品, 越畫越有心得,“不要想太多”的心境,也讓她能更盡情的揮灑想法.
Vita Yang use water colour, pencil, crayon to draw on materials such as memo pad or even coffee filter. She love to express her feeling randomly in various way, it show the true emotion. She worked in a shoe company after obtained master degree in UK. In 2010, she took part in GEISAI TAIWAN 2 competition, she won the NIGO special price by her work “This is why I miss London so much. By that time she just came back from UK, and she missed her life in London and depicted in her work. Winning this price is a significance turning point for Vita Yang, not only she find her own personal style but also become a professional freelance illustrator. NIGO, he is a famous Japanese fashion designer, he invited Vita Yang to design products catalogue for Human Made. Due to Vita Yang drew female characters mostly, so it was quite challenge for her to catch the essence. Therefore, she done lots of research on men gesture and look. Until now, she feel relax on drawing them. And she has collaboration exhibition – you are my sunshine with Agnes b. cafe and collaboration stationary – 7 days 7 boys with Tool to live by.
雖然繪製女生是Vita Yang擅長的領域,與雜誌合作專欄插畫也需要克服不一樣的挑戰. Vita曾與巴西版的Vogue合作專欄插畫. 造型總監會挑出衣服和飾品, 照片中並沒有人實際穿上衣服的樣子, 所以Vita必須去想像怎樣風格穿搭會配上如何的姿態. 這也需要透過不斷地搜集資料才能對人物有更貼切的描繪. 讓Vita很開心的事是編輯總是會提醒她要用她的風格去畫, 有時候個人風格和商業要求總是會有拉扯, 但對於Vita來說這都是無可避免的過程,最重要的是持續性的溝通,雙方對彼此專業的尊重,會讓合作更順暢.
Although drawing female characters is what Vita Yang good at, but she face different challenges while working with fashion magazine. Vita Yang used to work as an article illustrator with Vogue Brazil edition. Stylist directer will make a selection of clothing and accessories, with photos but without actual model wearing it. So Vita Yang need to imagine what type of women will wear in this style, and how the gesture will look like. She also need to collect images and samples in order to draw the best outlook. Even is challenging, she was enjoy the process. The editor always remind her to draw in her own style. Because sometime there might be a conflict between personal style and commercial requirement. Vita Yang think it is impossible to avoid, but through constant communication and mutual respect. It will help smoothing the process.
<第一本書>Vita Yang籌備了兩年多出版, 封面使用馬卡龍粉紅色和維持她生命重要元素-貓咪. 這本書描述Vita Yang重要的日常與啓發. 沒有使用艱澀的文字, 直白且貼近生活. 反而讓我在閱讀的時候感受到最直接的情緒. Vita Yang有顆非常善良的心, 從小就對流浪的動物非常關心,小時候拯救了小黑(狗),小皮哥(麻雀). 還固定會餵食流浪貓. 我在看動物的那幾篇時,有好幾度都紅了眼眶. 我也很喜歡Vita Yang<快慢>這篇主題,反映了現代科技發達,也流失了人與人之間最直接的情感. 大家都講求快速,效率. 在以前手機尚未發達的年代, 要找一個人要不要打電話又或者必須直接見面. 方便的通訊軟體取代了信件,誰現在還會寫信給別人. “急著知道答案,急著製造情誼,急著判斷眼前的人,急著前往下一個地方去” 無可避免的,在這個世代我也漸漸成為這樣的人,有時候必須提醒著自己放慢腳步.
It took Vita Yang two years to published . With pastel pink and life essential -cat as her book cover. This book is about her life and imagination. Without formal sentence, Vita Yang write her book with true feeling. I can feel the real emotion while I am reading it. Vita Yang has a warm heart, she saved little animals when she was child, and regularly feeding street cat. While I am reading those chapters I have tears in my eyes. I also like the chapter of , it reflect how people losing direct emotion interaction due to developed technology. Everyone prefer fastest and efficient way to communicate. Before mobile become popular, we have to phone up or meet people when we need to talk to someone. Convenient mobile app replace letter, who else will write a letter to others now. “Eager to know the answers, eager to create relationship, eager to judge people before your eyes, eager to go to next destination”. Inevitably, I gradually become this type of people, we always need to remind us to slow down our mind.
藝術家Andy Warhol在Vita Yang扮演著重要的角色, 想到Andy Warhol講過幾句蠻中肯的話, 上網查詢了一下,把最有感觸地抄寫下來 “They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them your self” “人們常說某些事會隨時間改變, 但事實上你必須自己改變他們“ . 沒想到再翻閱Vita Yang的書, 她在”快慢“也截錄此句. 一天一天過去, 時間在流逝, 因為每天吸收不同的資訊,想法觀點也因此改變. 我覺得Vita Yang自然不造作的個性不僅反映在他的作品以及文字中, 書中<感情>這一篇也讓人很有共鳴, “原來愛情有另一種實現方式,只有當自己完整了,心安穩了,才能真的願意去實踐”. 遇到可以一起努力,克服困難並且享受生活,了解彼此的另一伴,是件難能可貴的事. Vita Yang的書看了讓人充滿正能量, 也期待他第二本書.
Artist Andy Warhol is an important icon of Vita Yang art life. Andy Warhol has lots of famous quote, and I look up internet to wrote down the one I love most. “They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them your self”. And I find Vita Yang put this quote in her book as well. Days by days, time is passing. We absorb all sort of information and it change our way of thinking. I can feel Vita Yang free spirit from her word and illustration. I totally agree with Vita Yang ideas of < relationship>, “There is another way to accomplish love, only when you are ready with secure feeling than you can find what you want.” Finding someone who can fight through difficulty and enjoy life with you is not easy. If you have someone like this beside you, you should cherish it. Vita Yang illustration book fill with positive power, and I am looking forward to her second book.
