There are some many excellent designers came from Central Saint Martin, Emma Cook is one of them. After she graduated from MA course she work in Donna Karan and Martine Sitbon, and established her own label at 2001. Moreover, she has collaborated with brands such as Topshop, Fred Perry and Harvey Nichole.
She has a distinguished skill of designing the print, combine different possibilities such as leopard pattern decorate with symmetric floral, wild animals. Having a great attention to details, and a sense of humor when people talk about her collection.
I start to notice her work after I saw the fantasy video she made for S/S13 collection, the dinosaur fly through the galaxy world with flower and stone; models emerge from floral worlds. From the video we can see there are lots of her feature images, such as dinosaur, flowers…etc.
The interview she had with An another Mag, she said “ we focus mainly on print, and the prints are usually collaged from photos we have taken or old found images. I’m inspired by lots of different collage artists, like orginal Aleksander Rochenko works, they are amazing. Also there’s lots of great collage on 1970s album sleeves.”
