Few days before, everyone was discussing whether Alexander Wang was chosen by Balenciaga as a Creative director or not. But everything was confirmed, he is going to take reign of Balenciaga Creative director position. It is such an exciting news, because he is the first Asian designer entering high fashion label; but also he is Taiwanese, although technically speaking he born in US but I don’t care. There is a Taiwan designer taking over fashion world, how exciting is that!
It will be a challenge for Alexander Wang because everyone are expecting how he is going to insert young element into this 100 years heritage brand and also how he can continue the reputation that former director Nicolas Ghesquiere has built. Nevertheless, I’m sure they are confident of choosing him; according to WWD reporting, they said “We want to make sure that the person we hire understands and is capable of working with those elements, yet pushes them forward.”
Apart from sharing this news, that us review his Spring/ Summer 2013 runway show on September. We can see the collection is constructive with sophisticated shape cutting, putting all piece of shape fabric together seamlessly. Come along with zabra like high heels or white cross heels and creating futuristic look but is highly wearable outfit. It gives a tough, sporty and edgy look. The best part is the end of the show, models spread out and light off ; all their outfit glow in the dark, that is so cool~!!
